Cephalopod Tablet

This inscribed tablet was recovered in 1921 from a freighter found adrift in the South Pacific with all hands missing. It depicts a cephalopoid head in an inscribed circle and 21 rows of script. Although reminiscent of cuneiform, there are no other known examples of the script, and its discovery in the South Pacific further precludes any similarities with cuneiform.
